What Is POP3?

POP3 stands for Post Office Protocol 3. POP3 is used by a server to receive email messages.

A distinctive feature of POP3 is that it deletes received messages after it finishes downloading the email messages to your computer.

This POP3 behavior is impractical if you want to access your email messages from more than one device.

To receive email messages on multiple devices, you can use IMAP.
