Benefits of the SSH Terminal Extension
How does the SSH Terminal Extension improve your Plesk experience?
1. Faster and easier access to the SSH terminal; subscribers can receive chrooted access to their websites directly from the Plesk GUI. Just make sure the feature is enabled under Web Hosting Access;
2. Automatically encrypted access to the server console;
3. Root access available only to administrators.
How to disable root access in the SSH Terminal Extension
With this extension on Plesk sites, subscribers receive chrooted access, while administrators can have root access to the server.
For some businesses, such as service providers offering managed hosting services, allowing administrators root access may be undesirable. The following options can be used to keep access restricted. There are three ways to do this for the extension:
1. Disable active scheduled tasks reserved for the root username. In this case, the SSH Terminal extension leaves root access untouched and does not expose it.
2. Disable root access with the following panel.ini setting:
[ext-ssh-terminal]
rootAccessAllowed = false
3. Add the SSH Terminal extension to the blacklist. This prevents it from being installed on the server by using the following panel.ini setting:
[extensions]
blacklist = ssh-terminal, panel-ini-editor
Benefits of the Mail Log Browser Extension
1. Access and manage the mail service
2. View and monitor the status of all incoming and outgoing mail on your server
3. Filter mail logs to find and resolve problems faster
4. Postfix and Qmail support
5. Real-time updates
Both the SSH Terminal Extension and the Mail Log Browser extension are installed automatically with the Plesk Obsidian update, so users do not need to take any additional steps.
What else has been updated?
1. Dynamic lists: the list interface has been simplified to make it easier to focus on individual domains, along with WordPress shortcuts for the most popular functions.
2. SFTP Backups have improved performance so remotely stored information can be handled more securely.
